Bournemouth

P1 return to Bournemouth Pier Approach for the final of the 2016 season, on 3-4 September.

Recently voted the UK’s Best Coastal Resort, Bournemouth is famous for its seven miles of golden sand. The award-winning seafront boasts four Blue Flag beaches, historic piers and frequently warmer-than-average temperatures. The resort also has almost 2000 beach huts – available for daily or weekly hire – for that good old-fashioned seaside experience.

There are plenty of ways for race fans to enjoy the Bournemouth coastline – by foot, by bike, a ride on the iconic land trains or cliff lifts, by bus or even by boat. The Fisherman’s Walk Cliff Lift has also made it into the 2015 Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s shortest funicular!

Bournemouth offers a variety of attractions from outdoor pursuits and water sports on the coast to inland farms and nature reserves. From scenic flat routes to strenuous hill rides, Bournemouth and the surrounding area is a magnet for cyclists. Bournemouth is also littered with golf courses and bowling greens for those who take a more leisurely approach to outdoor activities.

Nearby Boscombe has opened the UK’s first multipurpose Coastal Activity Park offering a range of water and land based sporting activities from surfing and paddle-boarding to bouldering and slack-lining.
