As the famous powerboat racing venue of Sarasota prepares to stage it’s 34th annual event later this month, it has been announced that international hotel bookings company HotelPlanner.com will be their title sponsor.
HotelPlanner.com, a leading online provider of group hotel bookings and individual hotel stays worldwide, launched its partnership with Powerboat P1 in March of this year as the organization’s official hotel bookings partner. “Our new relationship with this prestigious, global company is enabling us to streamline our hotel booking process and provide racers and fans with access to the best hotel rates available in the market,” said Azam Rangoonwala, CEO of Powerboat P1, the sanctioning organization for the HotelPlanner.com Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix.
Founded in 2002, both organizations place enormous importance on the value of strategic partnerships. “We believe that everything is better together so it is our mission to help people connect both easily and economically to the people and places that matter. We’re honored to help fans connect with Powerboat P1 as it accelerates the sport of powerboating around the world,” said Tim Hentschel, CEO at HotelPlanner.com.
The P1 calendar runs from April to November with 20 events in seven counties, and the fleet of P1 Panther race boats will head to southwest Florida’s Gulf Coast at the end of this month where the HotelPlanner Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix will be the climax to the 2018 P1 SuperStock USA series. The ten-day festival features more than a dozen events – including a golf classic, car show, comedy night, fishing tournament, live music and fireworks – and HotelPlanner will support its title sponsorship with a range of marketing and promotional activities. The celebrations get underway on June 23 with the P1 powerboat and jet ski racing scheduled for the weekend of June 30 and July 1.
With its outstanding racing, carnival atmosphere and tens of thousands of spectators, Rangoonwala describes Sarasota as ‘the big one’ and believes that the Grand Prix will deliver significant business benefits for HotelPlanner. Last year’s event generated $37 million in economic impact for the region and raised more than $100,000 for Suncoast Charities for Children that organizes the festival.
A one-hour television programme featuring the powerboat racing will air on CBS Sports on July 22 and is forecast to reach 65 million households across all 50 states. In addition, a one-hour programme of P1 AquaX jet ski racing and 30-minutes coverage of P1 SuperStock action will be broadcast post-event on Fox Sports Florida.
