P1 SuperStock US celebrates its 2017 champions

Frank & Al’s Pizza picked up their championship trophy as the 2017 US season was brought to an official close at the annual awards ceremony.

The greatest US SuperStock teams came together in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday night to close the chapter on the 2017 series as racers, teams, spectators and supporters celebrated a special year.

Picking up their title winning trophy were Frank Silva and Tony Iannotta who finished the season in top spot in the Frank & Al’s Pizza Panther.

The pair were consistently around the top of the standings all season but were forced to fend of extremely pressure from second-placed Spectre at the latter stages of the series. Despite the two teams finishing level on points, it was Frank & Al’s Pizza that claimed the crown due to the amount of miles covered.

Claiming the final spot on the podium was Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater who beat Southeastern Lighting Solutions to third place by eight points.

Azam Rangoonwala, Powerboat P1 Chief Executive Officer, reviewed the 2017 season by saying; “The 2017 P1 SuperStock USA season was definitely one for the history books. The Mercury Racing 300 XS engines gave a new life to the series providing some extremely close racing. The title race was down to the wire being decided after a tie in points!
“2018 will be an action packed schedule for P1 in the USA and Europe – more racing, more riders, some new venues as well as returning to some classic P1 venues. Our digital platform has significantly grown and we are looking to continue that growth.”
