SuperStock up for Scottish Award

Powerboat P1 have been shortlisted in the Large Event of the Year category by The Drum Scottish Event Awards.

SuperStock arrived on the shores of Greenock for the first time in 2016 with great success leaving all in the area delighted with the display.

We were treated to a fierce series of races on the water as Pertemps Network adapted best to the challenging weather, securing three race wins on their way to the P1 Scottish Grand Prix of the Sea victory and lift them to the overall summit.

Along with the SuperStock races, we were also treated to a collection of jet ski races as AquaX also entertained the fans.

While the racing was of the highest order, there was plenty to enjoy off the course too.

Over 30,000 spectators lined the esplanade and indulged in exhibition stands and marquees showing off the area’s businesses, including food and drink, leisure activities, visitor attractions, and accommodation.

For the younger audience, we also rolled out a local schools programme combining race event and environmental presentations, with youngsters designing a poster to express their link to the River Clyde.

Chief Executive of Sail Scotland, Daniel Steel described the Grand Prix as “a great success – fantastic crowds and a really well managed spectacle on the Clyde.”

Also nominated is SPECTRA Aberdeen’s Festival of Light and the Scottish Maritime Museum’s Illumination: Harbour Festival of Light.
