The crew of Walt Cox and Jamie Canter, who raced as part of the Halloween Megastore team in 2016, thrived as others faded to secure victory in the last race to leapfrog reigning champions Team Barbados after controversy caused a major switch up in the eventual standings.
Team Barbados led the St Cloud weekend standings heading into race three but struck the buoy at turn three deflating it and causing several teams to miss the turning on the following lap causing a one-minute penalty and securing victory for Southeastern Lighting Solutions.
Round two wasn’t as successful as they had to settle for sixth in Jacksonville. After claiming sixth in the opening race, they crossed the line in third next time out before going on to register fifth and a pair of fourth-place finishes.
St Pete Beach in round three was agonising for Southeastern Lighting Solutions as they missed out on a podium finish by a single point. They made a poor start in race one to finish eighth but quickly put that behind them to finish the remaining three races in third to end the weekend with 55 points.
Issues derailed their podium ambitions in Sarasota after the fibreglass underbody of the hull broke up mid-race following finishing race one and two in third and seventh.
Islamorada was a satisfying finale for the pair as they claimed second in the opening race along with in race three and five whilst end the weekend’s other two races in sixth.
They may have ended the 2015 series in fifth and had a year away from SuperStock racing but Southeastern Lighting Solutions made a statement this year and showed us all that they have the ability and knowledge to race among the elite.
