Team Barbados prove consistency is key with victory in Jacksonville

It was another topsy-turvy weekend of racing in Jacksonville as Team Barbados took the win without any race victories to their name.

The reigning champs James Norvill and Charlie Parsons-Young are looking for their fourth straight P1 SuperStock USA Championship title and used their experience, plus some luck, to gain their first weekend victory of the 2017 season.

Visit Jacksonville looked to be heading towards their first weekend victory before running out of gas on the third lap of the final race to hand Team Barbados the win.

The duo of George Ivey and Brian Lynch had racked up two victories earlier in the day but that mishap in race five as well as an incident in race four that saw them relinquish the lead after coming out of gear put paid to their chances of taking home the victory on home soil.

In the end Team Barbados needed just two seconds and two thirds after starting the day with a fourth to take victory by four points from both Visit St Petersburg/Clearwater and Frank and Al’s Pizza.

It was a positive end to proceedings for Visit St Petersburg/Clearwater after only just overcoming technical issues to get on the water for race one.

It was a much better weekend for experienced driver Craig Wilson and his sister Kate as Spectre recorded 72 points to finish a narrow fourth.

GEICO driver Brian Maine picked up his first ever P1 SuperStock race victory in race four and should boost his confidence heading to St Pete Beach in a couple of weeks time.

Winners in Kissimmee, St Cloud, Southeastern Lighting Solutions had to settle for sixth this time around whilst newcomers Sarasota Ford faced a sharp learning curve back in ninth.

There are just two weeks now until the teams head back onto the water, a first visit to St Pete Beach as the championship reaches the halfway point.
